Rule #1: Take Care Of You

Posted on: April 29, 2010

A lot of the fun in dating is having someone to pamper you, take care of you, and always be there for you. I mean, if they aren’t, than you might as well be dating the Time Warner cable guy (or maybe that wouldn’t be so bad…)

However, no man, woman, boy, girl, or tranny wants to feel suffocated by someone that is overly dependent on them. Also, relying on someone else to take care of you and make you happy is not only unhealthy, but unrealistic. So the most important things about dating are 1. being able to take care of yourself and 2. since dating is a long and difficult journey, not forgetting who YOU are along the way.

When it comes to music, I am definitely a lyrics person; I like to look for the meaning and message in a song. Other then Blame it On the Alcohol by Jamie Foxx (joke!), another song with a surprisingly great message is Neyo’s Miss Independent. Here is a highlight:

“there’s somethin oh so sexy about
kinda woman that don’t even need my help
she said she got it she got it no doubt
there’s something about her

cause she work like a boss play like a boss
car and a crib she bout to pay em both off
and her bills are paid on time

she made for a boss, only a boss

anything less she tellin them to get lost

she made for a boss, only a boss
anything less she tellin them to get lost
that’s the girl that’s on my mind

she got her own thing
that’s why I love her”

I definitely aspire to be this type of women. It is sexy to be able to handle your life, excel in many areas, and do it with class and confidence. That is why having a balanced life is not only important, but admirable. Many people focus too much on work, partying, material objects, or anorexia. There are six areas (in no particular order) that I think are important to include in every day.

1. Physical Fitness

2. Eating Healthy

3. Learning/Reading/Current Events

4. Career/Future Goals

5. Friends and Family

6. Traveling

7. Self Reflection

Work on these areas and guys will be naturally drawn to you. Just be aware that there is a fine line between confident and independent and cocky and b*tchy- and the latter is not so attractive.

Also as an independent, well-rounded individual, this also means that you do not have to settle for less than what you deserve! Being picky takes patience but when you land a guy like this one, then its so worth it.

Hugs and Kisses,

Cleo
